What is the Ohio Triathlon Club Cup?

This race series challenges triathlon clubs and teams from across the state and region to compete for bragging rights, to see who is truly the best around! Get your friends, family, and team members together to race for glory as you compete for the Ohio Team Triathlon Cup.

Do I Need a Club or Team to Complete?

You do not need to be in a club on a team to compete in our events or races. This is an optional competition that happens along with our regularly scheduled events. Club/Team members compete for individual and team glory, like in a cross country meet. Anyone not affiliated completes along those who are in a club or on a team, just like any other triathlon race.

Race with Your Triathlon Club or Create a Team

  • A Club/Team is defined as any group of people (men and women) competing under the same name. They may be an organized entity racing in the same uniforms (club), a collection of individuals who have committed to each other for this race series (team) or anything in between.
  • Club/Team membership may change from race to race, but the group name must remain the same to be considered for the series awards.
  • We recommend clubs or teams consist of at last 5 members, but there NOT a minimum or maximum group size.
  • If you have a club or team, please list your group's name when you register. You are not required to compete for your club on a team to enter any of our races.

Scoring

  • Club/Team points accumulate for the duration of the series and the team/club with the most points at the end of the series will win.
  • There are 5 events in which to compete. We will take the highest 4 team event scores to determine the winner. So your team needs to compete in at least 4 events to win! But any team, in which 5 or more team members, compete in the triathlon races at all 5 events will earn a 50 point bonus towards their final series score, so it benefits your team to race in all 5 events.
  • All clubs/teams earn 100 points per event date in which at least 5 members compete in any of the triathlon races. Clubs/Teams also earn 1 additional point for each member who competes in any triathlon race (Beginner, Sprint, Olympic or 1/3 Iron) on a given date up to a maximum of 20 points.
  • Club/Team members earn additional points for athletes who compete in the triathlon races (Beginner, Sprint, Olympic & ⅓ Iron) and place in the following age categories:
    • Youth Male & Female Divisions: USAT Ages 0-13
    • High School Male & Female Divisions: USAT Ages 14-18
    • Collegiate Male & Female Divisions: 19-24
    • Open Male & Female Divisions: USAT Ages 25-39
    • Masters Male & Female Divisions: USAT Ages 40-54
    • Grandmaster Male & Female Division: USAT Ages 55-99
  • In each age category male and female athletes can earn the following points for their club/team:
    • 1st Place: 10 points
    • 2nd Place: 9 points
    • 3rd Place: 8 points
    • 4th Place: 7 points
    • 5th Place: 6 points
    • 6th Place: 5 points
    • 7th Place: 4 points
    • 8th Place: 3 points
    • 9th Place: 2 Points
    • 10th Place: 1 Point
  • In the case of a tie for an individual event we will compare category placing points earned in the triathlons, without any additional participation bonuses. The winner is the team with the most points. If there still a tie, we will award the trophy to the team that had the most triathlon category 1st place winners.
  • In the case of a tie for the series we will compare category placing points earned in the triathlons across the 5 events, without any additional participation bonuses.
